General details and rules of Anushtanam
A Grahanam is the most sacred time for many Anushthanam.
The eclipse date and timings have been provided above for different representative time zones.
FOOD
Devotees are advised to avoid consuming solid food at least 6 hours before the beginning of Grahanam in your location.Any cooked food (except raw food, milk, curd, ghee, flour ) remaining from the day that passes the Grahanam time is not advised for consumption.Add two pieces of darba or kusa grass on vessels, regular grocery items as protection
sANKALPAM & sNANAM
Devotees can perform Grahana Aarambha Sankalpam (SCROLL below) before beginning of grahanam (We don’t need to do snana for this sankalpam. In this exceptional case, Achamanam provides necessary Shuddhi to take the sankalpam)• Sachela Snanam (with your clothes on) needs to be performed during the grahana time
Tharpanam & Dhanam
Tharpanam (details provided below) and Dhaanam need to be performed during grahanam time. Dhaanam amount can also be kept aside during this time and then dedicated at a convenient time.
Nakshatram (Stars)
People born in nakshatras affected by eclipse have to perform Shanti. During grahana period, have the Grahana Shanti slokam given below written on a card or palm leaf, chant a few times and tie it on forehead during the grahanam period. Devotees can visit Namma PeriyavaKovil for performing dhaanam after Grahana Moksha on the next day. Rice dhaanam is considered auspicious on Grahanam.
After Grahanam
After the Grahanam, Sachela snanam to be performed and Grahana Peeda parihara stothram provided below can be chanted along with other sthothras of practice in the family.

Grahanam anushtanam and its benefits can be availed even by people under asoucham or rajasvala (Menstrual period) days with some procedural differences. Please consult Priests / Vadhyar in the locality for those differences.
